If you are an American worker, this may be of interest to you.
Simply replying to hold the space so I can watch it tomorrow
I'll allow it.
The Video is accurate. Over here in Europe we can't believe how bad working conditions are in the US. Everyone here in Ireland gets 29 days of paid leave a year. It's the Law. If an employer does not give that to his workers it's a criminal offence
You Europeans are very fortunate.
Someday, we'll catch up.
@RoboGraham We Work to Live. Not live to work.
As it should be
@RoboGraham Productivity levels in a lot of European countries are way above the US. A workforce that gets good Paid Vacation time and Free healthcare is a workforce that is more productive because of that. Not despite that. The Great shame about the US is that Good working conditions are a WIN WIN for everyone. US Muti-nationals give good employment in Ireland and Pay for all theses workers benefits. So it Is a WIN WIN. They are not here for fun. They are here to make a Profit. And they can do this without exploiting workers and working them into the ground
No doubt. A lot of jobs I've had, I didn't work effectively on purpose because I felt taken advantage of. So, naturally, when you feel you're being screwed, you have no incentive to give it your 100% and actually care about the success of the company. It's just like, give me my pitiful wage and whatever.
@RoboGraham It's like the character said in Office Space, " My only motivation is to work just hard enough to not get fired".
All this, and my “conservative” friends swear we are sliding into socialism!
Well, we are about to elect a socialist president
@RoboGraham I think you are about as far away from Socialism in the US as Europe was in 1871. lol
@RoboGraham wow, you swallowed drump whole?
I guess the humor was lost on you
@RoboGraham harddto have a sense of humor about minimum-wage
What are your thoughts on the minimum wage?
@RoboGraham it is the same money I made about half-way through my Machinist Apprenticeship at the nuclear sub plant, in the late 70's, ferxristsake. When I worked at Bernie's local headquarters in '16, it was obvious that the young kids that listened to me talking about a real wage, using an example my dad, a milkman, and my Mom staying home with the 4 kids...well, they Clearly thought I was senile. Very saddeninhg.
It sure would be nice if the minimum wage had kept up with inflation and productivity increases. No one should work full time and not receive a living wage.
So what's this about drump swallowing me whole?
. . . reminds me of this (better that some of his) :
This looks awesome
Government programs supplement low income workers and in effect subsidize companies like Walmart and McDonalds to keep their labor costs rock bottom and their profits way up.
Exactly. These big corporations get away with neglecting to provide their workers with a living wage and basic benefits and the tax payer has to pick up the slack to keep those workers fed, housed, and healthy enough to work.
