This last Wednesday, the US set a new record of 107,000 new Covid-19 infections in a single day. The following day, Thursday, it smashed the new record by having 120,000 new cases in a single day.
Tonight, with time in hand to increase the figure, the record has been broken for the third day in succession, with 129,000 cases already!
Incidentally, there have been 3,600 deaths in the past three days, bringing the total ever closer to quarter of a million.
Well done all those people who defy basic rules about masks and social distance.
You've certainly made your nation "The Greatest in The World".

I read 160,000 in the Post. Their figures are from Johns Hopkins, I believe. Different surveys come up with different numbers.

But whatever the number, it's far too many.

I wonder if voting in person in the prior two weeks contributed....

I wondered that also. It's still a bit early to speculate about lines on election day.

@RussRAB with each day bringing a new record, it is following the pattern of "incubation period" data. The average incubation period is 5 or 6 days, which would indicate a peak infection day of Sunday or Monday, then a tailing off.
We shall see, with horror rather than fascination.

Today beat that 128,319 new cases. 1200+ deaths. Trump said after the election the pandemic would go away.

But, according to Trump, the election is far from over, and it won't be until the SCOTUS declares him to have won.
