I am firmly convinced that the greatest danger to humanity is the way society treats truth-tellers.
More times than not, the fact that they're routinely ignored condemns those seeking to be the ultimate arbiters of "factual" reporting.
There are so many examples where coverage specifically ignores the elephant in the room on any given issue.
Sadly, the Adolf Hitler observation on propaganda come to mind. The implications are absolutely chilling.
His concept paraphrased, "Don't worry about convincing the smart people. There aren't enough of them to matter."
Facts that we can't verify ourselves are generally assessed with "degrees of probability."
And we traditionally base our actions on issues to align with that "certainty."
In the comments I'll discuss various topics that fit this model. Feel free to add your own.
I think one of the most glaring instances of journalistic malpractice is their ignoring completely the FACT of apartheid Chosanistan's nuclear programs (including fully unctional weapons tech). Iran is a signatory of the NPT, and as such is legally authorized to have a nuclear program. The Symington Amendment excludes any nation with nukes but not part of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty from receiving US aid.
Would love to know how anyone can defend this hypocrisy.
Totally agree.
Telling the truth can get you demonetized, canceled, censored, harassed, fired, and even jailed.
And it's just going to get worse as the powers that be clamp down even tighter on social media. If we remain on this course, anything outside of mainstream thought will not be allowed in the digital space.
I agree with you and it is sad that even after more than 9 horrible holocausts caused by states or with state sanction, the world has not still woken up to it.
History will be written about Trump and his zombies that just happened and people reading then will wonder how and why anyone did not do anything about it?
