Well... here goes. This is all new to me, dating sites, not dating sites. It's not social media where I can "friend" the people I already know and ignore the requests from people I don't recognize. The point of this is to meet new people. And to be honest, that's a step way out of my comfort zone.
Already I've had three people send me messages to greet me, and I don't even have a picture up yet. In a way that's kinda cool, and you guys have my appreciation. It's just attention that I'm not used to getting, and I kinda don't know how to deal with it.
It wouldn't be honest to say that I'm socially akward. It'd be more honest to say that I'm socially inexperienced. Which is probably confusing when compared to the tag I choose for myself. See, I love playing D&D, which these days is Pathfinder, but has been WoD, Palladium, Champions, and any other game we could get our hands on. I like those games where I can sit around a table with friends and have fun. And that includes games like Cards Against Humanity, or Exploding Kittens, or Arkham Horror. But in all these cases, I'm sitting down with people I know and have known for some time.
The problem that I'm running in to is that everyone I know is paired off. And I have no tool or methodology to find new friends, to make new acquaintances, or to find someone with whom to pair off. And to make matters worse, I live in a relatively small town (it's not as small as I had always thought, and it's been growing by leaps and bounds). And of course, the attitudes here are rather conservative and religious. Two attitudes that clash with my own sensibilities.
I'm hoping that I can find someone of like mind, and similar interest. Others around here keep mentioning that I should hit the bars, or to avoid the bars. Either way, I wouldn't know what to do in one. So avoiding them is easy. But I don't know where to go to meet people, or otherwise how.
And so I turn to dating sites, or not dating sites. I still don't know what I'm doing, but as you guys have been so welcoming, maybe you can help me with that. I promise I'll get a photo up, I just went looking and realized that I don't have the digital stash of photos I once had, and that means I need to make a new one. Selfies though are not my forte, so forgive me for refusing to do that.
So I guess, Hi, and Thank You. Hopefully I'm doing this right.
Okay.
Let's just establish some boundaries here. I live in Australia. Which has much in common with Tattoine - if there is a bright center to the universe, you get the picture...
Look, I don't know. You sound cool. I love board games and RPGs. Cards Against Humanity is an absolute blast. Arkham Horror is good, but that - right there - is a time investment. An afternoon and an evening combined. And even then you'll probably die, so you know there's that.
So, I making this stuff up as I go. I got single about 18 months ago; no kids, no pets. I do have two cars, though. Also about 1000 CDs.
Ugh. I'm just saying - these sites are a crap shoot. But it sounds like you and I have similar interests. If you want to say hello, then say hello. And that's it, really
All good. Personally, I don't care for selfies either.
Ha, welcome, many of your ilk here.
use the search function, type in some things that interest you, taht way looking at the posts you can see people with similar views.
Many of my ilk?
Good to know, thanks for the tip.
@SocialGamer Sorry, ilk is a word that has probably gone out of use, it means people if your type. I have a house that goes D&D crazy some weekend
Oh I know what ilk means. It's use though is as spotty as simply saying "your kind." Often less than complimentary. At least in my experience.
@SocialGamer ahhh cultural differences, we probably have about 40-50 years and 1/2 a world between us. No offense intended.
Hello and welcome! I can relate to alot of your statement and now I have to go find out what Exploding Kittens is...
I've only had the pleasure of playing exploding kittens once, and it is a silly game. But it is fun. Thank you.
Theres a couple of gaming groups here so welcomeand have fun.
Oohh, groups. Will have to look in to that. Thanks.
