Pope revises laws on priest sexual abuse. Too little too late or he waited until the time was right? Discuss.

Too late or maybe he was waiting for the right time

to little faaarr to late. Not entirely his fault but fuck this should have been cock blocked decades ago. 🤬

You know why Pope Wanky Frankie is sitting like that don't you?
It's because that how they place him when his Masters, the College of Cardinals, are not pulling his strings.

It will likely be meaningless, chances are the abuses will continue without much consequence. The church has removed then reinstated priests despite harassment abuses. They can get away with pretty much anything still, unfortunately.

Imagine what would have happened if any secular institution behaved like this one.
No one would stand for it.
We give religious institutions too much reverence.
Dismantle them and do something useful with all the land and buildings they own worldwide.

I say close down the churches and use the buildings for commonity workshops. You go to one of these workshop you learn practice life skills and work on your education. GED classes, soft skills, maybe earn credits for college.

Catholic church is a feudal institution, they have a good PR that shapes the message and hide in a lot of vague and empty statements but the hard written law is still in the middle ages (and that is not a metaphor, the internal laws are basically the same).
They have the same structure, what they lack now is the hard power to make the old laws be applied.

It's a rather gross stmnt, but I think all species including humans do 'better' with a healthy sexuality (permission to Stone Me GRANTED). the phrase 'forbidding to marry' comes to mind from my VERY PAST, (now ex-former) Mormon missionaries days. Of Course we know that Mormonism gaslights everything in sight!! We'll never know what might have been had RCC priests been allowed to marry, for sure it wouldn't be an easy, simple situation (divorces, extra-marital affairs, child support, etc. etc. etc.) 'A confusion of the Real & the Ideal doesn't ever go unpunished!!!

Far too late for the pedophiles at this point.

I don't believe there's any rational reason to have delayed prosecuting priests save the church's ability to protect them, so it's hard for me to consider this progress in a positive light. It's possibly the very least they can do to show they're battling the evil within as the walls start crumbling from the ire and hatred of a public that learns more of their crimes every day. How many Netflix specials does it take for people to open their eyes?

The Republic of Ireland has been taking something of a lead in consigning the Church of the Pope to the rubbish bin of history.

Did I miss the part where women are now good enough to be priests ??

Too little, too late.
It's all bullshit anyway.
The rcc needs to be sued into oblivion.
All assets should be seized, liquidated, and paid to its victims.

7

Too late, way, way too late by at least 1,600 - 1,800 + years.
Nice attempt though Protector Of Paedophile Employees, aka Pope Wanky Frankie, but about as helpful as closing the barn door AFTER the horse has already bolted.

Overdue

Too little, too late.

What he is peddling is utterly useless. Every priest knows that he can sin as much as he likes, and all his sins will be absolved when he confesses to his god.

Please excuse me while I puke.

Did you mean discuss, or should it have been DISGUST

“ Pope Francis on Tuesday issued the most extensive revision to Catholic Church law in four decades, insisting that bishops take action against clerics who abuse minors and vulnerable adults, commit fraud or attempt to ordain women. ”
Oh yeah, fraud or attempting to ordain women are SO equivalent to pedophilia.

He is part of a rotting and rotten edifice that needs to come crashing down to the ground.
