Pandora's Box is open and we may never get it closed. This virus is man-made and may only getting started, it is nasty and extremely dangerous for humanity. I'd love to be wrong about this but fear the worst.

Climate change is bringing strange new worlds...and pandemics. If certain people would get over themselves, read a science book, get a couple shots in their arm and wear a thin piece of cloth over their fucking mouths when in public, we could get it under control somewhat. Fuck selfish people.

Considering that most weaponised viruses have death rates greater than 80% and are usually variants of the anthrax virus, it seems improbable that covid is man made or that it would be released prior to developing a vaccine or vaccinating your own population under some pretext. The theory that it's man made doesn't make any sense other than as a political tool to embarrass one's competitor and that's a tactic we see every day and with 45 every hour. It seems as likely as the idea that your election was rigged.

You are wrong to positively assert the virus is man-made. No proof either way is in public hands. And, scientific opinion has not been swayed by Republican disinformation. This remains the prevailing scientific view on the subject:

While I agree there is no definitive proof, some of the articles I have read from the respected science community make it hard to ignore. You may be right, but my gut thinks otherwise.
@valentine4real China's behavior is reprehensible regardless of where it came from. China had previously closed down its wet market because of the risk of serious SARS outbreak, but still reopened it. For China to be so uncooperative in checking out the lab increases the suspicion, even if the science says no. Even if we find out the lab workers got infected, we can't know if it was from the lab or the nearby wet market. Or, they might have fallen ill from the flu. It may well be too late to prove it was a lab accident, what then?
@valentine4real same exact things were bandied about when AIDS showed up and that it had been developed to target gays.
. AS IF there were never ever any viruses running amok through humans or animals ever before.....

@AnneWimsey As gay men were the primary demographic to die from AIDS, and the Reagan administration completely disregarded it, the remaining gay community suggested that the virus had been created specifically to wipe them out. The rest of society also acted with indifference, and at one point, demonstrations were held demanding research be undertaken to stop the epidemic. It's true that a significant portion of gay men are Conservative, so some Conservative gay men may also have suggested that AIDS was artificial.
The fact that AIDS decimated Black gays and heterosexuals in Africa was noted to counter the claim that the disease specifically targeted gays.
Who do you believe was promoting AIDS as artificial?
