My father loved processed, preserved meats. Dad died of colon cancer at 51.
I was 24. Immediately I stopped eating cancer-causing preserved and processed meats (ham, bacon, salami, chicken nuggets, etc.), beef, fast food and deep fried food. Never drank soda pop.
My taste changed. Now I don't eat processed food because it tastes of nasty chemicals.
Instead I cook at home from scratch. For 35 years, I have made whole grain breads. Kneading is rhythmic and sensual. It connects me with with bread-bakers from centuries ago.
