It sounds great to us because we're already non-believers, but it has minimal effect in an argument with most believers. The problem is the catch-all assertion so often tossed out that we simply cannot understand the deity's intentions, e.g. "God works in mysterious ways," or "No one understands the will of God."
There's just no way to defeat that bit of creative genius with rational argument.
And yet they never have any problem understanding him when he echoes their own prejudices.
Why indeed? I call him/her/it a malevolent construct of nasty patriarchal egotists.
