While I have no time for the anti-vaxx dimwits of this world, this article might go some way towards explaining their insane behaviour: [abc.net.au]
The article does little to shed light on the Aussie version of dimwittedness, where the antivaxers appear to accept the science of climate change while denying the science of epidemiology. Perhaps the Aussie antivaxers are mere halfwits, while their American counterparts are the full blown dimwits?
On either continent, the idiocy of rejecting news sources as fake, accepting the rumor mill that is Facebook as a reliable resource and cloaking themselves in the hubris of claiming to know better than the consensus of experts, has resulted in the spread of a different type of virus: the Dunning-Kruger effect, on a mass scale—an entire segment of the voting public is simply too stupid to realize how stupid they actually are!
Neither, you nitwit.
@AnneWimsey hahaha
Certain personalities appear to prefer disinformation (lies). The fear and concerns are really there, but the people have lost the conventional understanding of the world and reality. In part, their religion has brainwashed them into this state. They reject and revile true information coming from reliable sources. Their outlook is one of protest and rebellion against the existing order. They embrace membership in the conspiracy cult. The best we've come up with for that are drugs and therapy on a case by case basis. Good luck with that.
