For my entire life we have overspent on the military, but we are part of a military-industrial complex, so don;t expect it to change until the country fails and is reborn.

Sad to say, I believe the country has to fail in order to be fixed.and fixing it could go either way. We need another FDR,

Maybe we need to cut the military budget and start closing some of our foreign military bases.

We could cut military spending by 3/4ths and still outspend every other country in the world militarily.

A few years ago Ron Paul, Rand Paul's father, had a balanced budget proposal. Most of the savings were closing all our foreign bases and bringing all our troops home. @EdEarl

@nicknotes That's a good start. The problem with actually doing that is the conservatives (who have large amygdala and elevated fear responses) need to be calmed, and taking away their toys is scary.
