Lovely, FIRST he gets to accusing me of stealing electricity from his Solar Panels, which btw, the Summons to appear before the Magistrate arrived via the Sheriff at his door 25 minutes ago, then he has the blatant GALL and FRONT to come and ask ME to help HIM fix a badly leaking tap in his kitchen.
I kind of hinted that I was booked up solidly until the 30th. of February, 2022 but would pencil him for around 17.30 hours on that day.

Talk about stealing electricity....

Around here (and don't ask me how this can be legal), apparently solar panels are supposed to get connected into the power grid... and then the owner gets a discount on their bill based on their contribution in Kw to the whole shebang. I don't understand how it can be that the solar power you generate doesn't belong to YOU, and anything else you need to supplement it is what you pay for; like, if your system draws from the grid on Tuesday, that's the electricity you pay for. Unless they're claiming their system isn't sophisticated enough to monitor that kind of thing, to which I call BS, when they have a program that can tell how much less than average my use was on "Energy Savings Day" and give me a $1.23 credit on my bill.

FYI, IF one has Solar Panels here in Australia then one can sell the power generated to the Electricity Supplier but the amount YOU receive IS ONLY a small percentage of what it is then re-sold for by them via their Grid System.
You buy and pay for the Panels, their installation onto your roof or whatever, the connection into your home, the converter equipment to take from D.C. current to A.C. current and boost it to 240volts hence YOU own the panels and any electricity YOU produce by using your panels and the light from the sun, WHICH btw, No-one OWNS as YET.
But hey, give them time and some money-grubbing Yank Consortium will find a way to lay claim to the Sun and start charging everyone for the usage of its light and heat.

@Triphid Sounds about like what the situation must be here. I suppose if I owned solar, I would know more, but I rent.

What I do know is that there are a lot of yard signs out in the next county protesting against "industrial solar plants". I imagine they're based on all the same misinformation Trump spouted about anything not based on coal; "Your lights will go out at night, solar power won't run your washing machines as fast," oh, and the big one, "It'll lower your property values!!"

@Paul4747 Well there are Solar Storage Battery Systems available and around this way MOST who have Solar Panels fitted STILL maintain their connections to the Power Grid as well.
Yes, when the sun goes down the reaction in the Solar Panels ceases, but by no MEAMS does any form of Electrical Energy ever slow down or slow down the workings of something UNLESS it is operated SOLELY by battery power, i.e. an old fashioned cassette player running on 1.5 volt "D" sized Batteries in series WILL slow down as the BATTERY charges expire, but anything driven by either 110, 240 or whatever else Mains Grid Voltage does go into slow-down if there is an overload on the Grid or you are using Solar panels.

@Triphid Understood, but my educated guess is that any operating sustem based on solar will also include not only big honking storage batteries, but also a rainy-day contingency plan. Humans are not entirely stupid. Amazingly stupid, but not entirely.

If we were less stupid, then by now we would have had big solar collectors in orbit, where it's always sunny, beaming electricity down via microwave to receiving stations here on the earth below. But that's too expensive to start, and doesn't make enough profit for corporations to consider it worthwhile. And the majority of technological achievements have been, one way or another, about money.

@Paul4747 Yes, but first we'd need to work out exactly HOW to "beam" electrical energy down to Receiving Stations on earth and then get out to everyone WITHOUT losing any voltage, amperage, etc, etc.
Nikola Tesla worked on a similar idea, but NOT with the as yet, Unimagined/Invented Solar Panels and did NOT quite succeed unfortunately.
And yes, Solar Powered Electricity Generation and Storage does have its drawbacks but, imo, nowhere as many or a environmentally harmful and damaging as does either Fossil Generation or Nuclear Reactor Generation.
During over-cast or rainy weather, the output of Domestic Solar Panels does reduce by approx. 35-50+% that is WHY most people remain on the Grids as their prime back-up system.

Let him know you’re waiting for a sign from his savior that his leak isn’t another 40 day and 40 night flood. Once you get it, you might be over. 😂🌊

Oh, FFS!!
🤦♀️

Pretty close to what I was tempted to say to him, but NOT quite as expressive though.

Tell him to shove the leaking tap where the sun don't shine.

I would BUT he'd most probably do so and then expect my help in removing it, no way am I going into that or any other region of his being under ANY circumstances what-so-ever.

@Triphid Yeah, there is that.

@Lilac-JadeCanada Especially considering that pre- his Malay Lady Friend coming to visit him he ONLY showered once every 10-14 days whether he needed to or not, I'm taking NO chances at all in that arena.

@Triphid Since I'm in the tub every night, & wash my hands a dozen or more times per day, I'll never understand anyone who can bathe so little.

@Lilac-JadeCanada I know where you are coming from I shower at least twice per day, sometimes even more, Nurse Training taught me to wash and scrub my hands almost to the point of it being an obsession/compulsion disorder, IF I even think I might smell of sweat or something, it's straight to the shower for me.

At first I wondered... then I saw it was you and remember your neighbor. It is getting to be that we don't even name him. Evangaloon - Voldemort words you have to be wary saying least you summon something ugly.

Shit mate, he's ugly enough to scare away even the worst of those imo.

Btw, I'm trying to create/think up a newer title for him but I got distracted by a reply from @courtJester from Alabama regarding Personal Freedoms during this Pandemic so I 'invented a NEW title for the deluded, etc, hillbilly/red-necked citizens of that State, i.e. Alabamanuts,

One idea just crossed my mind so I thought I'd give a test run on you, how does "Jesus-Junkie" sound?

@Triphid did you graduate high school?

@CourtJester Primary School,( all 7 years of it which includes Kindergarten) 6 years of High School with 3 lots of Honours btw , Trades Schools, then University as well.

@Triphid I like the flow of the new title. Also, thinking of a phrasing like "look at the jesus-junkie relying on his cross-crutch to get his faith-fix" and other such non-sense that tries to tie in common parlance used to describe activities of those with a drug addition. (It really does sound like an addiction for him, including the negative impacts on the brain.)

Charlie Brown's "Good Grief!" comes to mind.

I can think of better and more EXPRESSIVE words but there are probably women, ladies and young person reading this.

@Triphid I was tempted to ask "What's wrong with the man?", but a better question might be "What's right with the man?".

No wonder his mother doesn't want him anywhere near her.

@anglophone You're NOT going to believe this, even I'm having doubts, BUT the penny has dropped, he just yelled to me across the fence to tell me that " There's no February, the 30th. next year."

@Triphid Jeepers, what took him so long to realise that?

When is his appointment with the Magistrate?

@anglophone According to the Summons, 10.00 am on this Wednesday.
I've got follow-up Blood Tests to be done at 9.30 am the same day and nothing better planned for afterwards, might just waste a bit of time hanging out in the Magistrates Court, being a J.P. I can ALWAYS be assured of being welcomed there and getting a FREE coffee as well.
They have GREAT coffee btw.
