"Steven Donziger, the disbarred lawyer who once won an $8.6 billion judgment against Chevron Corp. over contamination of the Amazon rain forest, was sentenced to six months in jail for defying court orders... The orders Donziger was found guilty of disobeying came in a racketeering suit filed against him by Chevron... Donziger’s crusade against Chevron in Ecuador attracted the support of... environmental activists as a blow against the fossil-fuel industry... Dozens, including Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, protested his prosecution outside the Manhattan federal courthouse on Friday"... The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention called for the immediate release of Donziger.
Question: Where on earth can a giant corporate polluter like Chevron and two U.S. District Judges prosecute a heroic environmental attorney like Donziger, strip him of his profession, and block release of the $8.6 billion won on behalf of the Amazon rainforest indigenous people? In the 'god-is-on-our-side', bigoted United States of America, of course....
I need to figure out how to participate in a Chevron boycott.
I hope someone is able to follow the money that went into that judges pocket and get rid of her.
Cry the Beloved country that has such people in it.
