To BS or not to BS, that is the question!

Coming to this forum from the UK I was surprised by the number of instances of BS I came across as a rapid conclusion to some piece of evidence or proposition .
I am ashamed to report that at first I had to ask what BS meant . I really should not have expected a reply and I did not get it

....No matter My question is

Do you think that Americans in general are too quick to use BS as a conclusion.

If you do , then what phrase might do a better job to express feelings . NB I recognize that BS is included in “Free speech”

Brits would say 'Bollocks!' as well as BS, rubbish, nonsense, etc. These expressions are for killing a conversation/discussion instantly. You are not interested to continue, so you move on.

I agree there are UK equivalents . I am just worried that by saying BS or Bollocks it cuts off proper discussion and analysis that would give us the real light on what is the real problem.

@Mcflewster
'I am just worried that by saying BS or Bollocks it cuts off proper discussion and analysis...'
I hear you, and that's exactly what those expressions are used for especially on social media. You may say 'That' bollocks/BS!' during the conversation you are having with your mates, say, at the pub, but you are not gonna cut off the conversation and walk away immediately; you won't do that in the real world, but you can do that in the virtual world. Don't waste your time on those people who use BS as the last word and walk away so to speak on social media. 😉

@Ryo1 trouble is , the psychologist in me IS interested in " those people who use BS as the last word "

I believe the answers to some questions are so simple, so self-evident, so obvious, that people think it is a joke - and so offer a bullshit comment for fun.

Jokes are actually very instructive if you analyse them well . Ricky Gervais' jokes are very deep.

My grandfather once told me Bull Shit is the axle grease of society.......

@Dhiltong Probably literally true in some cases ( as a lubricant)

I do not overgeneralize about either Americans or Brits.

@wordywait Wise man!

It is just a discussion . No hidden judgements

I think a lot of us have seen More Than Enough BS in our lives & can smell it a Mile away!!!!

@ AnneWimsey My next question (not judgement) is" Does it get you anywhere?" like satisfied?

As a teenager I spent every night listening to international short wave radio stations, getting the world news from 10 or more perspectives. Yeah, my bullshit detector is well developed too.

@Mcflewster keeps my money in my pocket, gets me endless opportunities to be snarky, which I greatly enjoy!
