I'm still trying to wrap my mind around why some people voted for Trump and continue to support him. There are many reasons, of course. Some don't want any additional restrictions on their right to bear arms and will vote against anyone (Democrats) who suggests otherwise, for instance. But having found out last year that people who consider themselves to be born-again Christians or evangelicals were much more likely to vote for Trump, this suggests to me these people have a magical or delusional way of thinking. Maybe I'll get a lot of flack for this but as far as I'm concerned people who are very religious are also very delusional and will fall for generic phrases like "Make America Great Again" as well as simplistic ideals like "Let's build a wall and have Mexico pay for it" without specifying how that will work out and what impact it will actually have on the economy. Religion to me is a fantasy just as voting for Trump to MAGA is also a fantasy. I'm wondering how many of the people on this site voted for and support Trump. I created a simple poll below for you to take. Who did you vote for in the 2016 presidential election?
Of course Christians have a delusional way of thinking.
Trump supporters are just full of fear, anger, and hate.
I chose not to vote because I knew Hilary was going to carry California. Had I been in a swing state I would have reluctantly voted for Hilary.
I didn’t want to vote for crooked Hillary. Once I got to know Trump, I became a strong supporter. Trump is not a saint, but he is way better than Hillary.
