I stayed up late last night. Had my cell phone st to wake me every six hours. Took blood sugar readings every six hours. Proof that the pump settings are wrong. I got too much insulin at night, causing low blood sugar readings and symptoms of rhabdomyolysis (the Doctor House disease) in my legs and back. I will send a report to my endo doctor and educator this morning. I hate it when I am right about shit like this.

Congratulations on your Research!!!!
I Hate when Doctors, who see you for, what, 5-10 minutes, think that you who are "on-site" 24/7/365 don't know anything!!!!

Is your pump implanted? Can you disable it? So sorry YOU have to prove the malfunction…the pump should be self-monitoring, so doctor can see the problem. Glad you are being proactive about this.

Thanks, MsKathleen. The pump sits on my body with a needle. The doctor saw the results from the last six weeks. The settings that control the amount of insulin were too "generous. This pump does not self-adjust, but my next one will do so.
I am an old woman and have lived with Type1 diabetes since I was 16, so no need to spend a lot of money on me. Medicare has a lot more patients to invest in, like Lia, my 13-year-old granddaughter. I have asked about an artificial pancreas for thirty years. Japan has it. We, as a nation, don't seem to be able to get it together. One of my endo doctors said to me: Well, we have not yet figured out why your metabolism destroyed the first pancreas. The same will happen with the next one." I thought at the time, that that was quite a callous view of disease, but he was right, of course. We need to work on understanding autoimmune diseases
I am grateful for the technical solutions that are now available.
Hey, what do you want to do? Live forever?

@Spinliesel Thanks for the explanation, however dissatisfying. Live forever? Not sure I want to live past today, and there is nothing major wrong with my body.

@MsKathleen Well, there is always boredom, or ennui, as the French say. I am too curious to give up on life.
