Hmmm, an interesting and somewhat informative conversation with a Stranger yesterday afternoon.
I was sitting on the front veranda, enjoying my afternoon coffee and the soft warmth of the sun as it prepared to set when this, imo, well and truly OVER dressed Dude pulls up in his fancy looking, shining, I guess very new car on the road-side outside my fence.
He gets out comes up to the fence and set about asking me, " Do you know a Mathew Payne, I've been told that he lives somewhere around, I need to catch up with him."
Being the usual friendly and helpful Old-timer type of Aussie that I am I answered him," Yeah, he lives in the house next door, ( signaling in the usual Aussie Outback manner with the extend thumb) but I reckon you've missed him 'cause he said he was going over to the East Coast to do Masonry work up around the Byron Bay-Nimbin area."
"Well, fuck him," the Dude starts to rant, " the bastard still owes me 3 grand for some special merchandise I sold and I drove all this way to collect from him, do me a favour, when you're talking to him, Don't tell him you've met and spoken to me."
Being me, I just replied, " You, never met you before in my life, wouldn't know you from a bar of soap."
The Dude just grinned, go in his flash car and drove off leaving me and my mind to GUESS what this "special merchandise really was.
