I agree, religious indoctrination does not belong in public schools.

I would love to see a private atheist school with the sciences and arts taught. Religions are taught as comaprative religions and kids are taught the history behind them and how religion evolved by the superstitious among us.

It is supposed to be in public schools, religion is not allowed to be taught other than as a social studies class and then it must cover a variety of beliefs. But in private schools, many church funded and run they can teach whatever they want to.

I agree there should be no religion in schools, but I also think schools brainwash kids with other stuff. Just look at all the revisionist history they teach kids. Schools teach kids to obey and fit into the system just as much as religion does.

That's what private Christian schools are for. If parents want to teach their children religion as truth, enroll in a private school. Otherwise, hands off the public schools.

Agree with @geko. As long as religion is taught informationally and not as literal truth, it is useful information. When public (or any) school teaches religion as truth/fact (in the US this would be a direct violation of church/state separation as it would effectively establish the Christian religion as "official" in this country), that is when the brainwashing occurs.

Depends on how it's done I'm for religious education as in here's what these people believe and this is what those people believe and it's not taught as fact. Pushing stuff and saying you must believe because we say so is a total no no . I love reading about different mythologies and the different creation stories . When someone is told of the many religions it's soon apparent that they are made up
