In lines 1-4 Reiner says indicting DJT will start a civil war.
In lines 5-9 he says not indicting DJT loses the civil war.
Who can lose a civil war that was not started?
Reiner refers to a prosecutor's FEAR that if T. is indicted, his cult would start a civil war.
The last sentence states the analogy that the prosecutor's failure to indict would be like giving the go-ahead to T's followers' threats of civil war. The prosecutor should not admit probable defeat before a threatened civil war even begins. That is cowardly in the face of threats of civil war.
T. induced his followers to try a rebellion on Jan. 6th. Not indicting would be to admit that T. and his followers have the right and thus are granted the freedom to start a rebellion and a subsequent civil war anytime they choose to do so.

@AnonySchmoose Well said.
We have less than a year to save this country. If we don 't come down hard on these plotters, It's all over in 2022. People who don't take this seriously and who are apathetic will lose the country for us. The republicans won't even have to try very hard.
@Organist1
For everyone's own good, people need to comprehend what apathy will cause. Doing nothing will allow great harm to gain total power. The time is Now, not maybe someday.
The Civil War has already started, ignore what is happening in Red States at your own peril. If you live in one, you need to decide what you're going to do when it breaks out, flee or fight will be your only options. Fleeing comes with the dangers of attempting to cross the border(s)
@Charlene
I think a C.W. has been ramping up too. I hope 'we' can shut down the growing conspiracy. However, those concerned for optics and PR are too cowardly to expose that. People who are ignorant and buy into the GQP BS are confused and reactionary. Am guessing that is what you meant by danger at the border(s).
@AnonySchmoose I'm daring to say @Charlene thinks that people attempting to flee the Dictator tRump will be shot at our border. Libs will be treated like fish in a barrel and nobody's getting out. I suspect she's not far from wrong. I don't figure to be alive in 4 years.
And so it has; the US is done with elections, they don't and won't count. The GQP have decided they are dedicated to fascism, and will cheat however they need to in order to regain power - - power they will never relinquish again. Putin approves.
@racocn8
QAnonsense is what they are trying to do, and that alarms me.
The GQP definitely is trying to make the stupid believe their BS
Reinerβs thinking is faulty.
Who started the civil war that he says has been lost?
How about sharing more options.
Trump is a noisy dunce. Who are his funders?
In Wikipedia, the βBusiness Plotβ article describes an earlier attempt to overthrow the government. When I last read that article it said nothing about the very wealthy men who funded the attempt.
Are you also thinking the oil companies? After that war ended, Chevron negotiated with Red China for drilling rights in the Tonkin Gulf.
@yvilletom
Most of us here know who his funders are, and think Reiner knows too.
Fossil fuel companies, NRA, big AG, big Pharma, lumber conglomerates, climate change deniers, ALEC, the US Senate right-wingers, Super Pacs, White Supremacists, reactionary Republicans everywhere, evangelicals, Southern GOP redistricting politicians, the GQP, anti-immigrant groups, etc
@yvilletom
Of course, those too young to know previous history (that has been retold deceptively) will not be as alarmed that conspiracies and their wacky theories gain many followers, because they doubt enough people could be foolish enough to back them. But if a coup conspiracy has happened before ( F.D.R.'s time ), chances are strong that another can happen now.
