Really pretty country around there, and I love hiking the trail that circles the base of the Tower. I also enjoy the nearby prairie dog metropolis, which may be one of the last remaining places in the U.S. where I could afford the rent …

After seeing the movie "Paul" I looked to see where this tower is located. To my surprise I lived within 100 miles of it for over four rears , did not realize it was there or its significance. I guess when one lives past the turn off for nowhere, one finds things later in life.

Longed to see it as a child. Been there numerous times. The interior of a degraded volcano.

When I was very small , Dad took us to see a 3D wild west movie and for some reason in the movie , they climbed up inside of that . Don't know if there is actually a cave system in real life , but it made a deep impression in my young mind .

Everything I learned, I learned from MtG. 😝

No wonder I enjoyed hiking around Devil's Tower when I was a teenager, not being very Christian at the time.

Hmmm. Alien life forms running about in advancing behavior. This means nothing.

cool, It's an old volcanic plug magma pushed through the rock layers to form it about 50 million years ago.

I took a trip to the badlands way back in 1975. Long before digital photography. These are digitally scanned from 35mm Kodachrome slides.

👍

Gorgeous photos!!

@Redheadedgammy Thanks. Here are three more. I took thousands of shots while bicycling around the country solo almost fifty years ago.

@OldGoat43 love the prairie dog!! That must have been a fun trip!

@OldGoat43 Cycling around the country on your own sounds like an amazing adventure. Please consider sharing it with us when you have a moment.

@SnowyOwl . Thanks. I just bought a good digital scanner for slides and negatives. It takes a few minutes to scan each slide in hi-res, so I'll be busy at this for a few years. Yes, I'll post some more when I get a batch ready.

@OldGoat43 SWEET!

Looks suspiciously like the pile of crap that Richard Dreyfus built in another fantasy! 🙂

First his mashed potatoes, and then the pile of dirt.
