It is most definitely seeming that making a deal with the Devil, of which there is none btw, is a far far better idea than trying to make a deal with an Evangelist.
Not being in good enough condition atm to be able to mow my lawn in the back yard and remove a few weeds I appoached, Huge Universal MISTAKE I now admit, Evangeloon and offered him a, imo, fair deal, considering that I was going to supply the Lawnmower, the fuel for the lawnmower, my large wheelie bins to put the cuttings in rather than him needing to remove then to the Rubbish Tip PLUS MY Rakes and shovels, etc, as well, a rate being, in my estimation of the time need to be spent, approx. 1 hour and my offer being $50 in cold hard cash NO questions asked nor answered.
Well on Wednesday last, he and I made a verbal agreement that he would do my lawn job on Friday just gone, Friday came, Friday went, no Evangeloon, in sight, he left his home around " bird-fart" i.e. not too long after sunrise and stayed well away until sunset, aka final bird-fart of the day.
So kind and courteous as to avoid giving an explanation/excuse etc, and when confronted face to face in front of a witness btw, he states, " I only take on jobs where the Client is NOT a close neighbour or a friend of a neighbour of mine."
Guess the half-wit has never heard of the Bush Telegraph system that operates in towns like Broken Hill, bad reports travel the Bush Telegraph much, much faster than do the good ones and there are few blowing around regard his "work" and ethics already.

I would get someone reliable to come and do it. Talk to your network does someone have a teenager who would do it for some "weekend money" We often get a friend's teenage sons to come over and help with things we can not do by ourselves (putting up the chook shed took half the time as these kids know what they are doing, Dad is a builder and they help) and give them cash. Dad is also happy to come over to do small odd jobs for cash, ie the leaking roof was a replace the silicon around the pipes leading into and out of the roof for some cash.

Er, I think I may have helped karma along a bit because I was later on chatting with a good friend about it all and forgot that she still works part-time with the Department of Social Security. The conversation started off with her asking for a bit of friendly advice from a friend and Psychologist re- a report received late last week regarding a person driving a silver/light grey Mitsubishi Triton Utility with a canopy that only cover about 2/3 of the rear of its cargo space that was originally design as a Utility type vehicle, when she mentioned the vehicle registration number the penny dropped and it must have been extremely obvious because she looked at me over her coffee and then smiled and said, " You know exactly who I am talking about don't you?"
I've NEVER been able to lie and all I could say in reply was stammering " Yes, I, ah, do actually but please keep your voice because the person in question lives next door and has better ears than an elephant when it comes to ear-wigging on the private conversations of his neighbours."
And so we departed to go for a drive and to talk more in private, I mentioned asking him to mow my lawn and do a bit of weeding and that I fully intended to pay him $50.00 in cash, $20 at the start and $ 30 when finished to MY satisfaction.
She asked if he had accepted the deal or had started on the mowing and weeding but I told her the rest of the story, etc, etc, and she merely asked, " If push comes to shove, would you be willing to give an anonymous statement to the Department regarding this matter?"
I agreed BUT ONLY if I could remain COMPLETELY anonymous.
She then revealed that the Department have been after him for just over 7 months thus far and are still delving through his D.S.S. records, etc, as well since they believe he has cheating on the system for at least 7 of the 10 years that he has lived here as well as the months when he has been claiming Unemployment Benefits and report that he has been over on the East coast visit his mother and family.
