Fyi, we do have such things as Weather Satellites and we even have the capabilities now to launch them and numerous others from a site called Woomera ( from the Aboriginal word meaning "throwing stick btw,).
Historically, rockets were being test fired at Woomera before you Yanks even managed to launch your first ever Capsule to orbit the Earth.
