I got on this site because it looked like a place where I could discuss my ideas and beliefs without people shaming me for my religion. Most people have been kind and considerate, but I've already gotten some comments from a certain member that I "hate humanity" and how atheists like me "want to exterminate humanity". Why do people who hate atheists/agnostics even join this site? Their religion is dominant in our culture anyway, can they not let us exercise our right to our own religion in peace? It really makes me wonder. No disrespect to any people's beliefs here, but if you are a member of a religion other than agnosticism, atheism, etc. then I would really like your input. I'd like to have faith that we can receive kindness and open-mindedness from other people.
Selective hearing ( or reading)- that's my advice . Just because somebody tries to invite you to their drama, does not mean you have to show up. Just say to yourself; not my circus, not my monkeys and move on.

Oh, ja. Grüße aus New York von einer deutscen Frau. Ich stamme aus Ostfriesland und bin hier seid 1974. Antje ist Spinliesel
@germangirl90439 Hallo Cornelia,
What you described has no place on this site and will not be tolerated. "Principles" and "Community Guidelines" are explicit. Please flag the abuse (if you have not done so already) so the user gets on @Admin's radar. You can also block this user so you become mutually invisible to each other.
What? Who? Where? We, and by "we" i mean me, Adore driving people like that off the edge of the earth, whimpring for mercy! Show me the prey!
This site serves a useful purpose for me by simply being here. I am reminded or assured that I am not the only atheist. I don’t need to debate with any religious persons here.
Was this in a thread with others commenting? Did no one call this person on it? If you want to talk to @Admin, that may be good. If you want to PM me & give me the link to the thread, I think I'd like to talk to this "person"!
While I applaud your openness and willingness to have reasonable discourse - so welcome to this site! Most of us are really awesome! - I must take issue with "member of a religion" - atheism and agnosticism are not religions - they are the distinct lack of belief. We're the ones who put "other" on forms if it asks what religion we are. But that doesn't cover it at all - we are not members of any religion.
Atheism technically only means that one does not believe in a god or gods. Agnosticism technically means that one hesitates to define any belief, including their own, as the ultimate, unwavering truth. Both of those apply to me, but I still have many beliefs, including a belief in a central power of creation. It's just not a god to me. Those terms are just the best way currently to describe what I am.
I think you will find most people on here very much respect your choices even though they may not be their own..
You also have to understand there are people on here who have been traumatised by religous experience and to them coming here is an escape ..
It is a natural human dynamic and nothing more or less. Sorry if you feel threatened or unwanted.. I don't think that is the case for most people .. I think what you are refering to is internet confidence lol. People don't often say it so readily face to face
Just block it if it gets too much or is hostile toward you. You have a right to your own thoughts ..
I wouldn't be overly surprised though in this environment too! peace.
There is a certain risk that is taken when we offer an All are welcome approach to anything; however, I do believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks in this. Eventually, those who simply come here to preach to us will either be booted for bad behavior, or simply stop coming here. In the meantime, there will be others that start a debate, or see something said, and that will click for them, and help them find the path that is right for them, in a much more meaningful way.
It's as I have taught my daughter; the world is full of crappy people, and unless you go live in the woods forever, you will have to learn to deal with them. The good thing is, it usually doesn't take took long for those folks to identify themselves - makes it easier to avoid and ignore them in the long run
This is the difference. You hardly find an atheist botbering religious people, but you often will find the other way around!
Theres a button you can push that will make your day. Most of us think like an adult and just push that button. It aint nothing but a thing. Or you can continue to take remarks personally and get your feelings hurt... Toughen up... put on those big girl panties... and tell them what you really think. Then push that button.
BTW... This is your only post?
Just block them. Simples. We don't have time to waste on numpties.
I think that is worth a flag too
Hatefulness exists everywhere, even in so called safe zones. I belong to a Facebook page for my neighborhood and some people are horrible in what they say. When it gets too bad on a specific post, I turn off notifications. On my personal feed, I block someone who is consistently nasty and negative. Just remember that the only reaction you can control is your own, and only you can control your emotional space. A lot of people drink the poison of hate and expect the other person to die, it doesn't happen. Don't give others that power over you
Click on the person's username and it will bring up their profile. The third button you will see is "Block." Use it, unfortunately sometimes it is necessary here.
This site is remarkably theist-free and it's a breath of fresh air. I would not be bothered by the stray drive-by posting from some True Believer, especially one with such an irrational set of charges against you.
I would just quote Jesus: "There must of necessity be trouble in the world, but woe to him by whom it comes."
Welcome to the community! ? Just block that person. I block people too.
