It is going to be a somewhat of a distinct joy to be able to hang laundry out to dry in the sun and fresh air again.
Took a wee walk around the areas the guys cleaned on Friday, especially under the Clothes line and where the lawn had grown to mini jungle status, the local Wood pigeons are having a true feast and picnic at present, delving through the cut lawn and getting to all the seed, etc, that have now been exposed.
New job on the list for me is to mix a batch of herbicide and spray the unwanted Cooch grass without harming the struggling lawn grass so it can start to re-spread and regrow again.
And ALL of it done for the cost of $50.00, 4 cups of coffee and about half a packet of fresh, chocolate biscuits and 2 fresh, homemade Ham, cheese and tomato rolls for their lunch ( something, as they both stated that they NEVER get offered elsewhere..
It took, not that I even bothered keeping track of the time, etc, the 2 guys from approx, 9.30 a.m. to approx. 1.30-2.00 to get the job done, and everything cleared and cleaned up and the cuttings etc, taken away.
Not too shabby a deaL considering that Jesus Jockey quoted me $50.00 PER hour ( which btw) I checked upon and that IS the going for a FULL Qualified and Licensed Horticulturalist/Gardener, and EXPECTS the Client to organise the removal of any grass clippings, tree/shrub prunings, etc, etc, themselves of course.
That is great. One more worry off the table and you get to enjoy your garden again. Will this be a regular thing?
Yes, I can now cross through the lawn in the rear of my property and start spraying the seedlings of unwanted plants and weeds as they emerge with Herbicide.
Then I can re-commence my plan to create a set of plots to plant seeds for vegies suitable for each season, keep some, not a lot though, for my own usage and give the rest away to friends, neighbours and families who are "doing things tough" money-wise, etc.
Pretty much like I've been doing around here for the last 10 + years.
Wow, that’s is a bargain. I am sorry you live so far away. I love them to come over to my house and do some work.
From what they told me they are a part of the My Aged Care Network and are subsidised by the Government.
The $50.00 is what would be my contribution, can be negotiated IF funds are a wee bit short at the time btw, BUT, according to My Aged Care, them accepting offers of a Tea/Coffee break are " Not exactly SMILED upon BUT if refusal looks to be offending/offensive to the person offering, then acceptance is okay."
What sort of bureaucratic clap-trap and garbage is that so-called 'ruling' meant to be?
@Betty Yes but I assume that you are not aware of the Aussie concept, out here where i live, of treating those doing work at your house on your behalf as being friends rather than merely workers.
Plus it has the added advantage of building up a better rapport with them the next time/s you require their assistance as well.
@Jolanta Hey we were classified as a City many years ago and had a steady population of 30+ THOUSAND people living and working here fyi.
Also, fyi, this little bush CITY housed the Australian Gold Reserves in both W.W.I and W.W.W.II, has propped the Australian Economy for more decades than you have been alive, invented Mining Rescue Techniques, etc, that are NOW taught ALL OVER this planet and a whole darned lot more as well.
May one enquire as what in the way of assisting to keep the economy and productive outputs of Australia that wasted sheep paddock called Canberra has ACTUALLY and Honestly contributed?
@Jolanta Of course I do NOt, but I do get het up when those who, most probably have never set foot any further WEST than Parkes or those townships around it decide to spit their venom at a town and peoples who support this country, economically, etc, etc, for over 100 years and ONLY gets a bit of Political Recognition when Election time comes around.
@Jolanta You are in exactly the same boat as we have been for countless decades every time the LNP comes to power.
But be thankful please at LEAST you have a REGULAR Passenger Train service going to FROM Canberra itself, good and well surfaced and maintained roads, your G.P. Services ACTUALLY have G.Ps PHYSICALLY working in them and not merely consulting with you via the telephone, you do NOT need to rely on Victoria and its power grid for your electricity also I assume and I'll lay even money bets that your fuel prices are way way below what ours are out here and elsewhere in the HEART of Australia.
@Jolanta WHAT, you mean MORE LNP Parasites could be heading out this way?
As IF we don't have enough with the likes of the GARBAGE that we already have like that simpering sickly smiling Mark Coulton jerk who keeps fouling my letterbox with his inane drivels, etc, etc.
And I thought things were bloody tough when he had the Commo Turncoat, ALP wannabe, Peter Black in State Parliament.
Sounds like a win, win all around!
Could be since they asked me to make sure they were the ones requested should I need those jobs done again some time in the future.
