A little bit of an interesting development occurred here yesterday afternoon.
When out in to the very cold outside of the house to check the mail and saw someone, definitely NOT Evangeloon UNLESS the treatments he is receiving in hospital have cause him to develop a set of somewhat noticeable breast even under the coat being worn, coming out of the front door and heading towards a car.
I called out to her and asked what she was doing and did she have permission to on the property.
"Yes, Mattie," came the reply quite friendly and in a nice tone of voice, " asked me to collect his bible and a few pieces of warmer clothing for him and said that I could move some of my clothes and things into his house as well."
I responded in a friendly manner, " That's okay then, just saw you going in and out and thought that I would check and make sure that you and everything were okay."
About 20 minutes later comes a knock at my door, I open it and the same woman is standing there.
"Do you mind if I come into your house and ask you a couple questions about things that have been bothering me?" she asks quite politely.
I invite her in, she introduces herself and sit down on the settee while I ask her if she would like a hot Tea or coffee to take off the chill.
She accepts very nicely and I make 2 hot coffees.
As I return to the lounge-room she asks me, " How long have you known Mattie, is he a good Christian person, has he had many women friends who have moved in with him before me, is it true that he is only on the Dole but gets $2,000 dollars a fortnight paid in to his bank account by his mother," she asks in rapid succession, " Sorry to ask but I've been bitten before and don't want to be bitten again."
What can one do, lie to her or tell her the things you know and have learned from and about him over the last 10 years, so I related the Mathew Payne saga to her in detail even going as far as showing her my copy of the Restraining Order that the police placed upon him on my behalf.
Suddenly, she burst into years, gets up, leaves my house and as she goes says " I'll only be gone a few minutes, is okay if I come back though?"
I reply with an affirmative Yes and she heads to the house of Evangeloon.
I happen to take a peek over the fence and she her scattering a whole lot of his clothing around the front yard, a bible being flung high in to the air, then she tosses a set of keys, presumably his house keys like an Olympic Champion Javelin Thrower somewhere in to the mass of lengths of bridge timbers and other junk in the front yard, sets about letting the air out the tyres of his parked vehicle, then returns to my house to finish her coffee with a very satisfied smile on her face.
Irony of ironies, not more that 30-40 minutes later in comes a relatively heavy shower of rain in which I guess ensured that his precious Holey Babble and clothing got nicely saturated.
I guess that may well be yet another "Evangeloon style romance" that has now gone the way of the Dodo.
