John Wayne
Jimmy Stewart
Tyrone Power
Alan Ladd
@MermaidSuzy888 I am the same way!!! I like SNL, but I always have to ask my kids "who?" Jack Carson's a good one. Gig Young. Chill Willis, Myrna Loy, and (be still my heart) Cyd Charisse.
I like classic movies, although somtimes it is hard to get over the stilted acting techniques.
When I was a kid we'd go to "The Old Time Music Hall" in El Segundo, CA to see old classic movies. The program usually started with silent films accompanied by life whirlitser organ music and finish with usually mostly forgotten great movies. It really made me appreciate older movies.
Oh yeah.... so many great films out there from the...uh... last century.
Hahaha, last century, ancient history also
Yup, B&W still holds certain magic
Especially Film Noir
Very much so.
i started to put in some examples but the list immediately got out of control. I'll start with "Roman Holiday", "To Sir, With Love", "Bell, Book and Candle" and "Father Goose".
Father Goose is such an entertaining movie. Boy, I love Cary Grant.
@MermaidSuzy888 A very long time ago (for me. 1970s) I belonged to a group called the Tucson Temple of Theater and Art. They would take suggestions for movies to acquire and show in their theater.
At the time the only 'rule' was that it should be a silent film but exceptions were allowed. For instance I remember seeing Night of the Living Dead but also Battleship Potemkin and many others. We had a great time seeing and talking about the films.
