Unfortunately, we do not value history in the USA and way too many don't actually really understand what it was all about. My belief is that is was about controlling women (and also the men who defended them, in some cases.). I see us getting closer to 1690 every day.

We can complete the transition from male to female and vice versa, we have that technology now but in fact we just need to be accepting of other variations on sexuality. Cultures across the globe have historically done so and it benefited everyone but Abrahamic Religions have everything set up as a dichotomy - light and dark, good and evil, male and female - when reality is variations on grey for the most part. I don't think that sexuality is the problem but the religious perspective on sexuality and quite frankly, most everything else.
With Cristian nationalists, it's the politics in the driver's seat. The religion is just a way to draw people in, give them an identity.
