I went on a date with a Christian. Overall it went pretty well. Physically the lady is very beautiful and in very good 'shape' for a woman that age and we matched closely.
We spent a fine day in Aberdeen chatting sharing stories and exchanging glances. It was quite obvious we were checking each other out for the little signs of mutual attraction. Eye contact was prolonged and bodily we mirrored taking turns in leading and following.
Then over dinner, intelligent design and Darwin recounting the theory of evolution on his deathbed - thus killing the whole hypothesis.... That was an 'oh bugger' moment.
Sadly I can see this getting in the way of a productive relationship. I've been an atheist since 1976, and had my doubts before then. I don't think I'll be changing and disappearing off to Africa to spread the word of god.
As an atheist, I have been unaccustomed to interacting with other atheist so the women I have been with and the one true love/soulmate were not. Chemistry, interests, physical attraction, conversation, level of positivity always eclipsed shared religious beliefs or lack thereof. If the other party is a hard core believer then the relationship is DOA, IMO.
Did you mean Darwin "recanting" his theory of evolution on his deathbed ??
Yes. I bit my lip and kept quiet. The genie is out of the bottle and recanting the truth does not make the truth a lie.
Darwin as such is the champion of evolution and there seems to be a religious resistance to accepting that he is not the devil of evolution. Kill the devil and evolution goes away. Yet is doesn't.
On reflection, I cannot see the relationship going forward without some compromise in accepting each others viewpoints.
Arguing that evolution is just a theory does not stand scientific scrutiny.
@Sofabeast Unfortunately they are all liars. It's not a big leap to jump from Noah to Darwin to the Deep State to the Stolen Election
A shame, but it looks like there will be a problem there. I dated a religious churchgoer for about three years and we did debate the bible on occasions and I think I demolished all her arguments but she had her "faith" and that;s all that mattered. She dumped me not because of our differing beliefs but because I couldn't afford to "wine and dine" her as should have liked. Not very Christian I thought.
One should always remember what happened to the Virgin Mary when she went out one night with a christian fellow named God!!?!
She ended up pregnant as shit without even getting herself any dick!!! And then poor Gods son ended up being some loser libtard snowflake Jewish carpenter….
It ain’t worth the risk bro, just stay home!!!!?
I think she may be little old for making babies - not impossible though!
It might work depending on each one's expectations. Does she expect you to participate in her religion in any way? Do you expect her to assume that you are convinced and that she will not push her views on you in any way? Can you agree to disagree without it bleeding over into other aspects of the relationship?
For those of you keeping score at home, SeaGreenEyes got tired of picking on me, and leaving Sofabeast curiously unaddressed, in our long argument. She never answered any of my ?s to her about what her own dating preferences or dealbreakers might be, if she were still interested in being in the dating game, maybe because she was afraid of looking hypocritical. Nor would she answer why she was leaving Sofabeast alone and picking on and criticizing me, even tho he openly agreed with me on my two dating dealbreakers of not dating a country music fan or a political conservative. Therefore, I had to conclude that SGE either had something personal with me that was motivating her to selectively pick on me, or that she was too afraid of or friendly with Sofabeast to give him any of her venom for hating country music, same as me.
Like I've always said on this site, I have never cared about being popular or liked, only about telling the truth and being honest about what I feel and what I see. I never said I would block her, but she clearly doesn't want to hear the truth or defend her hypocrisy.
Alas, that is how it is with people who give themselves license to believe any unfounded wacky shit. They always want to drag you down into the muck with them.
I would happily engage her on that topic. It doesn’t matter what Darwin might have said on his deathbed or at any other time. The greatest bulk of supportive evidence for evolution has been collected since his death, not prior. Darwin didn’t invent evolution - he (along with Wallace and a few others) just discovered it. The current body of evidence is much larger than anything he ever knew of.
Any supposed renunciation of evolution by Darwin is apocryphal.
BTW, you ended up with a duplicate post. Might want to delete one of them.
I don't know how that happened.
@Sofabeast It's the site's system, it happens a lot, by accident. The person posting it is the only one who can remove the duplicate post, because the admin, had been gone for a long time, and they won't remove them, so the poster needs to clean up the mess, so to speak, these days.
