The human touch is an amazing thing. Being single, hugs are missed..
When my daughters were born, the hospital told us to lay naked on bare skin, like the chest. They said it helped stablize their body temperatures
Awesome. My now 35 yr old daughter spent the first 3 months and 3 days of her life in one of those isolettes. This is beautiful.
One cure for palpitations in anxiety is to have someone with a normal heartrate to hug you tight. The two heartrates tend to stabilise together. (Not something we are allowed to do as MH nurses but it does work)
Hugs have an amazing way of calming down someone or helping them purge emotions that need to be vented. I do believe that humans long for contact, especially contact that doesn't have to lead to sex.
@AmelieMatisse agreed
@AmelieMatisse, @MrLizard correct

Snopes says it's "broadly true" although it seems that the past about the nurse fighting against hospital rules may be exaggerated. [snopes.com] Also this happened more than 20 years ago, at which time it was standard practice in Europe, and not unheard of in the US; hospital co-bedding of multiples is known to have occurred in the US since at least the 1940s. [pediatrics.aappublications.org] As of 2016, studies on the benefits and risks of co-bedding twins were inconclusive. [cochrane.org]
@cmadler I believe that cobedding twins would be very therapeutic...for me. Lol. Sorry, I could not resist.
@cmadler Yeah. I can't imagine a hospital separating twins with current medical understanding of the stress that might cause.
