Two of my favourites in a little skit. Bowie and Gervais.
was JUST thinking about this skit the other day. Love IT!
I'm accustomed to thinking about politicians (e.g. Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, et al) in those unsparing terms, but not so much entertainers. However, come to think of it, Kanye West certainly qualifies. And Ted Nugent. Let's see, who else...?
Neil Young
@puff Nah, Neil is my homie. We both despise Donald Trump and Joe Rogan.
@Flyingsaucesir That's all good, but do you applaud them being cancelled, or attempt to cancel in the case of Joe Rogan? Trump can be cancelled through the ballot box. Rogan can be cancelled by the market place, as can Neil.
If we want freedom of speech, it's warts and all. Can't cherry pick, that's not freedom of speech.
In the case of Alex Jones, he should not have been de-platformed from social media but for sure he should be prosecuted for telling blatant lies and inciting violence, which is not free speech. And soon enough the market would reject him also. He is now a martyr for nut jobs.
With Trump and Twitter, as POTUS that is a major security risk so I still don't understand how the secret service allow any POTUS to have private social media accounts. They should only be allowed an official one due to security.
@puff I happen to agree 100% with the de-platforming (or "cancelling," if you want to call it that) of Alex Jones. Same for Donald Trump. Fact is, the only reason I wouldn't want to see them both tossed into a rock crusher is they don't deserve martyr status. As for Joe Rogan, I never listen to him, but I hear he spreads mis/disinformation on vaccines, so I don't think he deserves a big megaphone. Fuck him. I think Spotify made a bad choice, but that's their prerogative; its a private platform. I and others can also exercise our right to piss on Spotify. Which I do, metaphorically. Any other questions?
@Flyingsaucesir Nope. Covered it pretty well, admitting your opinion is formed via heresy re Joe Rogan.
