Hi, All!

Sad news...I've had a "Retinal stroke" - so I'm partially blinded in one eye.

Not much I can do..baby aspirin is recommended.

Any home recipes you can suggest will be checked out.

Found this interview with two of my favorite "atheists" Seth MacFarlane and Bill Maher.

and here's a meme/image quote from Seth

He's done some funny stuff on "Jehovah's witness" and "7th day adventists" if you search youtube...

Wow... now THIS is community support! From all over the world!

Thanks for all the feedback!

1 week, 2 days later...no changes...still have that purplish/greyish blot on about 20% of my left eye field of vision - (The better, stronger one, of course)...but hey...I made it to 77 in good shape.

I have boosted the greens consumption...and will go biking later today. Everything else seems to be the same. I just blended up some fresh garlic with spinach, basil, and pistachios (greenish nuts..no shells) to mix with future eggs I'll have.

Let's hope I see some improvement soon.

Rob

Dang, sorry for that, and agree with snytiger that fresh greens (green powder is available) & good overall nutrition is key. Pretty sure you’re already into that, and hope you allow yourself a restful recovery!

Hope it recovers.😕

I'm sorry about this!

I'm 60 days out from an eschemic stroke that paralyzed my right arm and leg. I imagine the treatment(s) for both yours and mine are somewhat similar. This recovery process is to allow the body to create new neurological pathways around the damaged area (in my case in the brainstem). Almost every day I see a little bit of improvement. In the first month I couldn't type at all (right hand was useless). I hope you experience improvements little by little like I have.

Sorry to hear your news. I know you are tenacious enough to do your homework and reach as far into recovery as possible. Positive sentiments out into the universe for you…I don’t know if it will help, but it won’t hurt.

@MsKathleen Yes, I'm starting a 2nd PT/OT regimen next Tuesday. I've heard it's kinda tough, but I'm determined to do it.

@mischl (Eduardo). Your case is of particular interest to me.

All 3 docs I saw gave me no "advice" as how to proceed - diet to change, if any, etc....so what you wrote was very encouraging.

Thanks, again! I knew I could count on my Agnostic community for wisdom!

@Robecology Yes, the doctors at the Stroke Rehab unit where I spent 18 days were very helpful along those lines. I don't take a "baby" aspirin any more, I take the real deal: 350 grains--daily. And one other stroke-specific drug. Also, I've tightened down on testing and controlling my glucose level.

I'm sorry to hear of your condition but at a great loss as to what to advise. The one thing not to do is try using a Jesus fix for eye problems. Best of luck.

When I heard the girlfriend and her daughter offer me prayers...it saddened me...that they're that naive...

I've been legally (but only partially) blind for over 30 years. My doctors consistently tell me to eat green leafy vegetables for my eye sight. My diagnosis is Stargardt's Disease, which is sometimes called "Juvenile Macular Degeneration", because although it didnt' affect me until I was 29, for most people the onset occurs around puberty.

Anyway, eat green leafy vegies and try to eat foods with "micro-nutients". It seems to have slowed my loss of vision some, but as the loss of vision is different for each person, I can't be totally sure.

Easting healthy can never hurt.

I am fully blind in one eye (right) due to what they called Central Retinal Artery Occlusion. I don't feel disabled to a noticeable degree.
But I do miss 3-D pics and shows.

Sorry to hear about that and I hope you feel better asap.

It would be a good start to make some dietary changes. Try eating more organic foods, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, as well as drinking White tea, Green tea. Getting more antioxidants in your body is key. Though only a medically trained person can advise you about your actual treatment as well as proper recovery, change of diet can do you a world of good.

So sorry to hear. I hope you have an ophthalmologist you trust. BTW, welcome to the "partially blind in one eye club". I have glaucoma, so share that status. As far as remedies go, just find a great doctor, and stay on top of optimal treatments. Good luck to you!

That is too bad indeed but keep posting - love it

So sorry this happened! No remedy ideas but lots of well-wishing!

I always count on a quick response from you. Thanks!
