SALMON!!!
As a chef I love salmon, versatile, flavorful...simply brilliant.
As a food eater, I love it none the less.
Here is some salmon I grilled up just now that a friend of mine caught today in Lake Michigan, (in a tournament in which he won 1st place btw, kinda cool.)

I used to live in Andalucia, part of american navy in Rota, used to hang out in all 3 of the Baleares islands when posible.Right now I am in DC.
I don't mind fresh fish. I've always been turned away from the smell of fish. I do loved salmon jerky a friend in Washington state would bring over on his visits. Also the smoked salmon. My wife loves fish.
Smoked fish, especially salmon is amazing.
That looks like farmed Atlantic salmon. I'll pass.
I love freshly caught, wild Sockeye salmon.

Agr8m8, farmed salmon has no taste and is toxic. I can tell immediately from the taste.
In Washington State, I have access to freshly caught, wild salmon from Alaska.
I won't eat farmed fish either. However, even if he hadn't told us it was wild caught, he said he was a chef. They're very picky about the ingredients they select.
@LiterateHiker As a chef of 30 years in Los Angeles, I am aware of farmed products, I stay clear, especially shrimp. But you had written you could tell by sight, not by taste. Any trained palate can tell by taste.
@LiterateHiker, @vita some people just don't read and assume. If you check out my resume on my chef page you will see the list of celebrities (a.k.a. people with a lot of money and very discerning tastes...) I have cooked for.
We are of a like mind, always bring home the big slab of Salmon from Costco. A light, very light, sprinkling of Cayenne pepper really enhances the flavour. Add to your taste, but like Wasabi, don't put you tastebuds in overload.
Salmon is by far the best fish. Followed by tilapia, then swordfish and tuna.
tilapia? why tilapia? Not being a wise ass. Educate me.

@MrTallman Idk, I've just found it's an easy fish to cook, can be seasoned a myriad of different ways, and goes good with just about any dish. One of the most versatile meats I've eaten.
Tilapia has a reputation for being "trash fish" ... at least according to my stepfather who's usually correct when he shares his opinions. But I think it tastes good and just make sure that I get wild caught versus farmed.
@vita You are right, stay clear of farmed anything aquatic, shrimp, fish. Cat fish is also a bottom feeder and considered 'trashy' by some but I love it.

I was surprised to learn that Salmon live in the Great Lakes. I googled Salmon and discovered that they were introduced into the Great Lakes and live a freshwater existence.
It's the reason I can sometimes eat Salmon - they aren't crazy high in iodine like saltwater fish.

These pieces I seasoned with a lime pepper seasoning and threw them on the induction grill, a.k.a. a 'George Foreman' or a "panini press' and will let them chill for a killer salmon salad. Micro diced celery, dill pickles (minus the seeds), mayo and some chopped fresh herbs from our garden, thyme, oregano and parsley. With two forks, pulling as you do pork, it flakes beautifully and still remains in it's natural striated form.
I got a george forman/panini dealio, I like original better but will surprise my sister one day, thank you. Love lemon pepper seasoning.

@GipsyOfNewSpain This lime/pepper also has a bit of salt, garlic powder, onion powder. I lived on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands for a few months, what part of Spain did you live in?
