Normal loss from a scandal such as is is around 10%, most return to another institution. Most of the abusers will return to the pulpit within a few years and begin again. Even non denoms that cease to exist simply have their members move to another mega facility, sometimes the new church will open in the same building. Marx said religion is the opiate of the masses, he did not realize that many like opiates over real life.

Oftentimes it's the men who are really abused by the church. In a nuclear family with a stay at home mom, the guy is out there struggling to support his family. The wife gets taken in by a swindler like Mike Baker and starts giving lots of money to the church. The guy ends up working many more years before retirement because of all the money going to the con artist and his church.
