March 3rd marked the sixteen year anniversary of the death of a good friend of mine, Sgt. Ashly Moyer. She was killed in the Iraq War, murdered by terrorists in a roadside bomb. At the time of her death was friends with her for close to fifteen years, and she (among others) played a part in shaping my own political and social viewpoints. She put on a uniform with the intention of defending the individual rights of all of her fellow Americans regardless of whether or not if she may have agreed with their personal decisions, and that inspired me to take the same path in life regarding individual rights. Gone, but surely not forgotten.-

I have no intention to impinge upon your grief but a few phrases stuck in my mind from your post. "Murdered by terrorists" hit me 1st. Now I have known people murdered by terrorists in Belfast and Manchester. Different decades and causes but both were just ordinary people going about their business. They were not soldiers sent to a foreign country on false premises. So when I heard that I thought about how RT would describe a Russian soldier blown up in Ukraine. Please explain to me which rights of which Americans she was defending other than cheap gas prices, Whatever rights they are, they must be very shaky to need the biggest army, 2 largest airforces and the biggest navy in the world.
Maybe if you guys stopped doing the whole "thank you for your service" thing (oh and here is $5 whilst you sleep on the sidewalk) and actually put the guys who sent them there behind bars. there would be fewer people like your friend to mourn.
@SpikeTalon Roadside bombs = bad
Cluster bombs = good
You still have not explained to me which American rights she was defending in Iraq. Other than the right of politicians who were responsible for such catastrophic decisions to be well shielded from prosecution and also mere criticism. It is the glorification of the dead that provides the cover and the camouflage for the systematic genocide perpetrated over decades.
@FrancoFran I am well aware of the human rights abuses in Saudi and Iraq. I am also aware that Saudi is a very good customer of the arms made by both our countries and has excellent relations with the former POTUS and his family. As for Iraq, The US installed the guy and then fought 2 wars to get rid. What is more, they cajoled loads of other countries (inc. mine) to help them with a LIE. Now after all that spilt blood, you tell me Iraq is still not free. All I can say is that it seems rather pointless unless the motive was oil, not freedom. That at least would be honest and make more sense.
Makes one wish there was such a place as Heaven for people like her to go to.
Thank you for sharing her story and keeping her memory alive.
My condolences, Iām full of admiration for those who serve in order to keep the rest of us safe. Sadly, as was the case with your friend and comrade, she paid with her life.
