I lived in Texas for 6 years and was mostly anti-death penalty when I moved there but I became vehemently anti-death penalty the longer I lived there. I really think that capital punishment is mostly about state coercion than anything to do with justice. By the end of my time there I would tell people that I wouldn’t execute Osama Bin Laden if it were up to me.

& it doesn't end there. & gee, I wonder why they're one of our biggest allies???

It may appear to the casual observer that our government has a split personality when it comes to reacting to human rights violations abroad. Some countries can do no right. Others can get away with murdering atheists and our governmenthappily looks the other way.

As long as they are as influential as they are in the oil world and the Middle East, we will be their ally.

It seems that predominantly Muslim countries aren't safe for ANY non-Muslim. Then there are the 'honor killings', and they kill LGBTQ people. Dangerous places.
