So apparently Disney is planning a live-action remake of the animated movie Lilo and Stitch, and one of the actors Disney is looking at to play one of the main character roles is supposedly too light-skinned for the part. So instead of appealing to the producers of the movie in a civil manner, people have to get radical and hurl death threats and even talk about committing suicide in front of the casting crew, I kid you not. And for anyone wondering, hint hint here... the individuals in question who made the threats of violence and other looney remarks are not rightwingers this time. Guess that's what they call "progress", lol. Small wonder why our society just keeps going downhill...

Well, the online chatter and a "spotify" list is what ended up getting the original cast member replaced. Apparently, it was the titles of some of the songs "liked" by the first cast member choice that didn't fit the desired persona of a Disney cast member. (Yes, racist titles.) So be it.

Disney says: "David in ‘Lilo & Stitch’ live-action has been recast and will now be played by Kaipo Dudoit, replacing Kahiau Machado."

Just another example of the reich-wing clutching their pearls and getting their panties in a bunch.
Any excuse to attack.

@SpikeTalon Doesn't it though?
It's not like they need an actual reason for the bs they spew. Or the actions they take.

Okay, I was skeptical about the story, so I looked and... it seems more like a few nutters who are obsessed with fictional animated characters rather than any kind of SJWs. Also, it's the kind of man bites dog story the right loves to jump upon and amplify. Don't you think that the left has better things to do than go after a fucking cartoon!? There is homelessness, voter suppression, abortion rights, airbrushing history books, censoring libraries, gun violence, vaccine disinformation, death threats on school board and election officials, a right-wing attempted insurrection ffs and a country liable to slide into a fascist dictatorship. So they kinda leave it to Faux Gnus to focus on culture wars.

Because they got into transgender themes in their movies. Attendees dropped lowest in 24 years.

Oh, I guess this might have been what prompted someone to set fire to the trailers on the set the other day? This controversy wasn't mentioned in the news after it happened.

3 different stories in our 30 minutes of TV news tonight were about the Lilo and Stitch remake, haha! 2 stories about actors being cast and 1 about the fire in the costume trailer.

They showed the actor chosen to play David in a wrestling match and he looks handsome and local enough to play the part of Nani's boyfriend to me. No mention of any controversy. I'm thinking someone is just jealous they didn't get the part. The image in the tweet does look a bit paler than what I'm seeing in the news.

One of the male characters is being replaced a female character. That doesn't seem to be causing any controversy either that I can see.
