This was the original recording of Peace, Love, and Understanding. A band called Brinsley Schwartz with Nick Lowe singing lead.
Never heard this version before. Only knew the Elvis Costello. I dig it!
Sounds great, I like it, I always liked Nick Lowe's music back in the 1970's, including these songs "Cruel to be kind" and "Switch Board Susan"
I saw him with Ry Cooder
@273kelvin I ♥️♥️♥️ Ry Cooder!
@Flyingsaucesir Check out "Little Village". A lot of John Hiatt songs but here is one for the bass player.
@273kelvin I'm already a big fan of Little Village...and John Hiatt and the Goners (one of the best band names ever )
@Flyingsaucesir Ry does some amazing collaborations. When asked how he gets to do such diverse music; "Well not having a hit record helps. You can be married to that sucker for 40+ years". One of my favourites is this one with the Chieftains—an interesting but little-known part of American history.
@273kelvin Nice video! Thanks for sharing!
@Flyingsaucesir Did you read about the historical events that it is about?
@273kelvin Crying In My Sleep? No. Do tell.
@Flyingsaucesir No "San Patricio" the Ry Cooder+Chieftains album?

@273kelvin Wow, they already have the score; now somebody needs to make the movie
@Flyingsaucesir It would make a great movie but I think that it is the kind of story that Hollywood would never make. It is a rejection of the American dream.
I remember that underrated band, sort of a supergroup before its members became stars, including Graham Parker... I actually sang an acoustic, slow version of this song at a Unitarian church service long ago..
