For anyone who has a super religious family, how did you break it to them that you’re not a believer?
I stopped attending church. My parents asked why, and I told them that I didn't believe in Christianity any more. They got extremely upset and there were lots of things said (on their side) that are regretful, I think.
They keep hoping that I'll change my mind, so they keep inviting me back to church and so on. But it's been almost 30 years, so maybe they're getting the idea now?
Do not....unless you want to change your relationship with them drastically,. Why would you?
both sides of my family are very religious. they try here and there to push religion on me but they think it’s just confusion
@itsmeemanuel Deflect...."how about those Celtics?" If actually confronted, ask a question right back: "- do you need to know?" Or " is thisa question you think you need to ask"
It is none of Anybody's business, ever, and you are not obliged to put yourself in harassment's way!
I'm an atheist, I do not believe there is a God. It really was that simple. I was lucky and had a few that said I disagree and still do but they still love me.
Oh God..thats a hard one! I have 3 little granddaughters and they are being brain washed into Christianity. The oldest (6 yrs) is telling me I'm all wrong and I need to see the truth. She started reading me the Bible over the phone telling me I'm all wrong. Oh God..that hurts. What can I do???
Its like believing in Santa Claus - they will grow out of it
sheesh. that’s a sticky situation. to save the relationship i think i would just let her think she’s winning me over until she grows up and slowly start peeling some layers back.
