One serious item seems missing - tinnitus. I have excellent hearing with the normal range. After 2K hz it drops off. I got hearing aids in order to help with tinnitus and sometimes it does help. Still, one cannot ignore the constant buzzing of tinnitus.

I get tinnitus every times I take "too much "aspirin. Stop the aspirin ( switch to Tylenol) and the buzzing stops with 10-12 hours

@annewimsey500 Interesting, I will remember this. It's funny but I have a small shop vac I use in the house. The sound is very high pitched. I've noticed when I turn my hearing aid up and turn on the vac for a while it does reduce the tinnitus. I looked the meds and tinnitus up and coma across this: [peoplespharmacy.com]

I find that as one ages, hearing properly becomes far more important as when an older person responds inappropriately as a result of hearing poorly, even other older people immediately assume dementia, not hearing difficulty.
BTW Costco offers excellent hearing services, including testing, at about a fourth the cost of Beltone & etc. And their staff do not operate on commission, so you can trust their recommendations.
