@1patriot Climate change was identified by the 1960's, and confirmed in the 1970's. That and the OPEC oil embargo was why Jimmy Carter implemented an energy plan to get the U.S. off of fossil fuels back in the late 1970's. Of course when Reagan came in he totally tracked the plan and made us even more dependent on foreign oil.

1998, was more like when the U.S. government finally publicly acknowledged climate change as a real threat.
