When I was a youngster about 65 years ago I went to the Friends church. Even then at 10 years of age I questioned the teachers about things that to me they sounded like fairy tales. The reason my siblings and I went to that church was because it was the closest to our home. I did believe a couple of things that have stuck with me thru the years. One was to not kill any one, even in wars that the rich have, and to treat others as you wish to be treated. There are so many good and decent people in this world I have met that do not believe in fairy tales. I am glad I found you guys. Most of my friends that thought like me are all dead. Sad

At 14 I told a priest that if good people, like my father, would not go to heavenl because they did not attend mass/church, that I would rather go to hell. As a teen I did not always agree with my father's old-fashioned ways but I did know he was a good person. He really enjoyed people and would help anyone if he could. He would take back money to a clerk if they gave him too much back in change. He treated everyone with respect. I credit my father with my current humanist attitude. Sometimes religion can lead us to really "see the light"!

I why the child that always asked why and was never satisfied with religious answers much like yourself.

@Babydoll i did just the same and both my sons are none believers.

@Babydoll very good I think. my boys just weren't interested enough to even go. I obviously wouldn't want them religious really but I would never try and choose for them.
