Right and Left are split almost 50%, so no matter who is actually in charge, half of the population is not going to be happy. Actually, gerrymandering is the single biggest reason for the division. In gerrymandered districts, the most extreme candidates tend to succeed. Polarization is the result.
Only in a world where gerrymandering is the reality is ending the filibuster going to be a necessity.
