What’s the most frustrating thing about getting older?
Shit starts breaking down. I'm 56 and I've had two shoulder surgeries (to clean out bone spurs). I'm a physical person and I'm just not ready to be limted in my activity. Eyesight is another area where, although my vision is good "for someone my age" it's deteriorating nonetheless and I have to use readers to see small print and even to read a computer monitor. Things will only continue to go downhill. It's depressing.
Oh Boy, how much time to you have? For me it is the decline of the body. Even if you do try to do all the usual things, Father Time waits for no one. For me, it is my teeth. I still have most of them with the miracle of dental implants, but implants are more hazardous to your net worth than having to get rid of an unsympathetic spouse. They are awesome, but costly, and Medicare does not do dental.
On the real though, probably the added responsibilities you take on more and more of
My age. I'm 30-years-old and I feel old. I do look younger though.
@Hebert54 Lol.
When people say they like getting older I think of this & I got to laugh its really the only thing this side of immorality that helps, laughter that is.
The doom that is to come with physical & mental decline, loss of self when my mind is gone, such a depressing subject.
for me, it's the fact that my body is slowing down a bit, but my brain is better than ever before.
My mom, who is 76, has it much worse though. She's shrunk down to 4'4'', and has broken both femurs in the last couple of years - so she's really slowed down a lot.
I like getting/being older.
Remembering all I've done, experienced, lived through.
I suppose growing body frailty, but even there I just don't exert myself, so it's all good.
I've definitely gained a deeper appreciation for simple things.
That's easy..... You may exercise to stay fit all you want but eventually you must make peace with the fact that you are not sexy anymore.... Even the hottest Hollywood stars or greatest athletes get to the point of ... Eww gross !!!!! And that's a fact
Having to carry your eyes with you everywhere. I wear progressives for distance and reading, but still carry an extra pair of spectacles for ... 24 inches ... computer screen distance. The struggle is real people!
I had cataract surgery several years ago and opted for the multi-focal lenses. It cost another 6 grand, but was worth it. It cures near and far-sightedness. I don't wear glasses for anything with 20/20 vision. I can even read the writing on a Sweet-n-low packet...unaided.
Only thing I noticed about age is. If you didn't take care of yourself it really does show when you are older and if you did take care of yourself bravo, you just have to work at it a little harder to feel young. I figure when I get to be about 90 it's ok to feel old...
It looks like everyone is saying the body is giving out. I might add my look is also getting older. I feel the same as when I was young but everyone is looking at me as I am old. It is kinda sad but I am lucky to be this old . I have known so many that not have been this lucky. And died at a younger age.
