I know BS when I read it.......

@annewimsey500 Douglas Adams mostly wrote satirical science fiction and is mostly known for the "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" series. I don't believe he was serious when he said it, but was being satirical.

@snytiger6 Yes, of course, the last line ("...without faith I am nothing." ) is the clincher.

He is saying that god is nothing but belief in a passively-aggressive, humorous way.
