Does anyone smoke (cigarettes) anymore? I never have, and it seems like most people nowadays don't have this habit, or maybe because of non-smoking rules, people just do it out of sight.

I smoke cigarettes. It's the anti smoking rules. We just hide better. Lol

I do. Right out in the open, too.

Gross smoker right here!

To think I was starting to really like you... wink!

@Lukian sorry friend whether or not someone likes me doesn't alter my behaviour these days 🙂

@Blindbird aaah no worries. We'll make it work.

Smoking is a bitch! It took me forever to quit.

Americans aren’t smoking like they used to- now down to 20% of the population. Smoking is socio- economically race education chemical addiction and mental health disproportionately focused in our country. Big tobacco according to their own documents identified as long ago as the 1960’s that America was heading towards being a more non smoking culture, and the real money was and is in the third world and developing countries. Some giants like RJR Nabisco have and are divesting out of tobacco, the liabilities of being associated with an addictive product that will kill you was just deemed not good for corporate profits. Go figure-

Around 15% of adults currently smoke in United States, the number is way down from 1960s when 40% smoked and even from 2005 when over 21% did. It also depends where you live, not too many smokers in CA for instance.
I smoked for 24 years and quit smoking 4 years ago. Used an e-cigarette to do it, slowly lowered nicotine content over 5 months, from 18mg to 2mg. The best method ever.

I don't smoke, have never smoked. I live in a highly-regulated nanny-state where it's illegal to smoke in any public place and there is a constant anti-smoking TV campaign funded by tobacco taxes. With that, there are still a lot of smokers here. Vaping is also popular. I find it all disgustingly gross.

Yes. I hand roll Drum tobacco.
I don't smoke in my house and try to distance myself from nonsmokers when I'm public.

An amusing thing is the number of people asking for a hit, thinking I'm smoking a joint.
"Sure, really good shit, take a big one".

Ex-smoker here. Best thing I've accomplished for my health in my life.

I'm not a smoker, never have been. Spend summers in a house full of respectful smokers and have dated smokers, most of who are considerate. Would prefer not to but I am tolerant to a degree.

I never have been a cigarette smoker. Everyone around me was a smoker-my parents, my ex-husbands, ex boyfriend. I was diagnosed with leukemia 6 years ago. I am in remission 5 years now. I can not be around cigarette smoke without getting sick. No more smokers in my life.

I am so happy about your remission. Has anyone ever commented, "Thank God", or "Prayers work", to you?

no they know better

Odd question for a non smoker, but if you truly have any doubt, come to Kentucky, where you’ll have a quick refresher on the disgusting topic! It’s alive and well.

I don’t think I would date a smoker again?, did it twice for a total of 8 years and you woukd need to be behond special for me to do it again... I’ve had my fill of second hand smoke... I smoked for a year or so in the 80’s so i remained tolerant of it but these days I’m a health conscious vegan, deal breaker... if I was here to date.

I quit seven years ago. I started in the military when the were .35 a pack but every smoker has to know they just aren't good for you.

My dad smoked when we were kids (Chesterfields) but my mom finally got him to stop. Later we moved from Texas to Calif. and my mom started smoking and so did my dad. He had high blood pressure, cholesterol lung cancer and a brain tumor and died at 66. None of the boys (4 of us) ever smoked but 2 sisters did. I have never smoked a cigarette in my life and do know what I am missing.

Quit after 20 yeas , used the e-cig as a stepping stone to quitting , concerned about the new law where they want to lower the nicotine dosage , although it will help a lot quit , it will be a huge financial burden to those who still can't quit and just have to buy more to get the same dosage.

I smoke cigarettes, cigars, and a pipe. All but one of friends is a smoker.

1

Eh I don't normally smoke unless I'm drinking...Something about a beer and a smoke is like peas n carrots.

I don't see it very often. In fact, it's a weird throwback when I do smell cigarette smoke. Dad was a smoker.

And dead at 60.

Both my parents were chain smokers and my Dad also died from lung cancer and emphysema, so he was doomed.

I do, and it’s my business. I keep it away from those who don’t, but neither will I be bullied. Don’t like it, then keep away.

Just step outside a high school and they will be smoking weed and other things.

I frequently see a lot of people my age (18) vaping, most of them have never considered smoking.

I do still see some people that smoke but almost all are of an older generation. I've just recently gone back to school for a graduate degree and I've noticed there's a significant generational gap with the habit. I see far fewer cigarette smokers among the 20 to 30-something crowd than was the case when my peers were that age. I've also seen far fewer soda drinkers, as well. It seems like cigarette smoking has lost the rebellious appeal that it once held.
