At what age do you start to feel "old"? My birthday is in a month and I'm dreading it already. I just keep creeping closer to 50.
As many have said, it is personal. I have a 25 year old friend who has many physical ailments and she feels old. I'm almost 71and I have my days, but going to the local state University keeps me young. I also think it's a state of mind and whether you see the world through a half empty or half full glass of water. Hang in there, the wisdom you gain is worth the time.
You are old if you are afraid of a number. Most of us feel like "us" inside, so age is an external construct. Pining for being young is a waste of time. Besides, returning to the time you didn't know anything, have anything or appreciate anything doesn't feel like such a prize to me.
I am 78 and I don’t feel old, yet! It seems a look in the mirror, reminds me that I am older, but my thinking is still telling me, ‘sure you can do this or that!’ Only...there are a few days that I find, my mind played a few tricks! I cannot climb the ladder and clean the gutters, now! You just make adjustments where necessary and keep on keeping on...
It's hard to say, exactly, but the worst thing about is now that I'm single again for the first time in 37 years, women don't react to me at all in the same way, lol.
49 - that's when I lost a few relatives - the most painful being by brother and while dealing with that I was diagnosed with 40% heart blockage. Since then with the meds they have me on things have slowly gone downhill. I'm going to be 51 in August - the age at which my brother died last July and I am facing it with a great deal of trepidation.
