Some good tips here-
I would like to address an app I saw on my computer about holding your passwords for you so you do not have to write them down. I have a book by my computer with all my passwords in them. Its unbelievable how many I have. Let alone trying to remember them for any reason I need to get into something on my phone. Is this app safe and does it really keep each and every password you need to use on your computer or phone.... I already know what it is like to have my identity stolen. That didn't clear up for over a year. Any suggestions here would be appreciated.
What is the name of the app? There are many apps like you described on the app market, and most of them I do not trust as they could connect to the internet, but I did find one though that doesn't. Also, are you looking to download said app for a smartphone, and if so are you on Android or Apple?
@SpikeTalon Not sure the name of it. It was an advertisement on YouTube. And I have an android phone. I have a book for all my passwords and I actually do not try to open up any more sites where I need a password. Sometimes it can be overwhelming having such a long list of passwords.
@TweedleDee That's probably a good idea, and that doesn't really sound good being it was an advertisement on YouTube, their ads for apps are often questionable. I do the same thing, I rely on a notebook to store credentials. I'm on Android as well, and I could recommend an app called Passkeep, and I think the developers name was something like Gareth Williams. I like that one because it does not have any internet permission, no need for a password manager to connect to the net in my opinion.
@SpikeTalon Thank you so much for taking your time to answer and help me with this question. You seem to be very informative and up to date on everything.
@TweedleDee Thank you, glad I could help. I'm also glad you have Android, being that I use the same it makes it easier to help as I know quite a bit about Android.
You know how I feel about this,,, No one is going to protect or take care of your needs as far as what a person buys electronics, food or anything. This is something most of us do not think of and take for granted. Especially seniors. I know I was in the dark for a long time. This was great to read and I am glad there is someone like you who has such conscientious mind to bring this for all to read and discuss. Thank you SpikeTalon
You are very welcome, and thank you for taking the time to explore the link. Mobile device security is a very important issue these days, and that much will not be going away anytime soon. I just wish there were people out there who are as concerned about this topic as I am, and I even started a cyber security group on here in which to hopefully reach a wider audience, so I haven't been doing too many public posts lately. Again, thank you for taking the time to explore the link I shared, and please spread the word to everyone you know about this topic.
