Royalty is a ridiculous concept that should have died long ago. Are people that servile that they worship this crap? I equate the royals with the Kardashians pretty much.

I think there is just too much hype about lives of celebrities and the wealthy... Royals included.

I would have been happy to ignore this pointless extravaganza but I'm in a pub quiz team and each week there are questions on the week's news, so I deigned to watch a 2-minute highlights clip. Surprisingly, for an old cynic, I was slightly moved. I thought the setting was charming and the newly-weds seemed surprisingly normal and sweet. It was also nice to see the racial inclusivity Perhaps I'm not as nasty as I like to think I am.

I felt lucky to escape this one, but today someone sent me a screenshot of a photo of the wedding carriage with those two sat in it waving. It just confirmed my aversion to royal weddings.

I don't understand why there is a Royal family. The money spent to support the Royal leaches is mind boggling to me. It seems to me the money could be better spent.

It's nothing but a wasteful distraction, IMHO. As was mentioned in this comment thread, why is there any "royalty" anywhere in this day and age?

Maybe Americans follow and like this stuff because we don't have to pay for it.

Glad it's over. Never got the hype and it's annoying TBH. The only thing I hate more is when it's election time and all the doucheba.. I mean politicians come down from the mountain to woo us common folks for votes.

We have just ignored it as best we could, while wishing any young couple the best.

There were sure lots of people waiting to watch them arrive, come out of the church, ride in the carriage, and ride to wherever they were going. Many, many more than what was watching Trump's inauguration. The streets were packed. It seems the same as movie stars, or when the Red Sox win the world series. I don't know if they are needed, or why people like them or don't like them. Maybe it is a beautiful, or exciting moment in a world that is falling apart.

In S.A. we have many kings. scavengers all of them ! Supported by the Govt. and waste millions of tax payers every year. How would you like me to answer you ?

Why is there royalty of any kind anywhere anymore? Totally insane in the 21st century.

Relavent post for the time! I had this Nobel wedding posts coming in my news feed. Dint even click one as Im not intrested.Then news must stop covering them . The government of a country still considers someone Royal over other citizens?? UK sucks!

I have no thoughts on Royal Weddings at all. I just wish there weren’t any Royals to have them.
