I went car shopping with the Mrs yesterday. The car we are looking for is for her. She gets to pick the car. I'm just there to assist with the mechanical end and the negotiations. She does the talking while I watch for accounting tricks. We spent a little over 3 hours at the dealership, took test drives in 3 versions of the same model and finally sat down to talk a deal. We started with a salesman. After he made several trips into the manager's office I guess the manager figured a stronger hand was needed to close the deal so she joined us. I just chuckled inside watching them trying to make the sale they wanted and not the one she wanted. When we left, after not buying a car but indicating we were interested in the right vehicle if they could get it, we left, leaving 2 sales people smouldering in the dust of battle. Talk about looking beat down. Lol.
Oil,is the lifeblood of the engine, some people change at 5000 miles,I don't,preferring 3000 miles, the old saying "Oil is cheap, engines not so much" comes to mind. I like the Dino oil vs the synthetics, maybe on a new engine get it broke in and then switch might make sense.
Run maximum tire pressure for the highest mileage, clean air filter, fresh sparkplugs and an occasional walk around looking for something loose, pay attention if the Mrs. says "It's making a funny sound" they are never funny, usually $$$$.
Two types of modern engines; Interferrence and non interference, interferrence means if a timing belt breaks the valves and pistons will collide, ruining the engine, non interference does not have parts hitting.
