According to Pew Research Center, 58% of conservatives believe higher education negatively affects society's direction.
Well, we sure do have alot of college educated folks running this country, and look at how messed up things are. Doesn't matter what political side you choose, they both have members responsible for the quality of life going down in this country. Too much political correctness is being taught in colleges these days, a small wonder why our youth doesn't even understand the Constitution...
I don't really think political correctness is wihats bringing this country down. the Constitution has to be interpreted to fit the times. Humans are an overpopulated species that are ruled by the ultra wealthy. The quality of life in the u.s is shit for everyone.
@Kojaksmom The PC culture is a contributing factor. You think our Constitution needs to be interpreted to accomodate modern times? If so, I would question just exactly who gets to interpret it? Conceivably the wrong individuals could take a crack at that...not really the best idea. I can't speak for anyone else, but my quality of life is pretty good. The free market allows me to use what skills I have to make the most gains for myself, not many other countries have a setup like that.
@SpikeTalon what does the Constitution say about airplanes ?what does the Constitution say about computers ?what does the Constitution say about cell phones? What does the Constitution say about atom bombs? The only thing that stays the same in this life is that everything changes. I've always felt it's not really about conservative liberal, democrat or republican, it's about whether or not we see ourselves as a Cooperative pack animal or a cat like independent Hunter. No man is a self-made millionaire. Someone had to give birth to that man, someone had to raise that man, educate that man, the clothes on your back the food that you ate was probably not made completely by you. All of the things that you enjoy and use were made ,processed, marketed a d shipped by hundreds of people. When they go down and they're struggling to survive because of low wages and bad working conditions you're going to feel it. When a disaster strikes a human ,you're going to see a level of cooperation and people pulling together to try to get through that bad time. It's my personal believe that that's how we evolved as a species.
@NotConvinced to a certain point I agree. For instance I can't stand any religions. however the extreme left does make it a point that I could talk s about Christianity but I can't talk s about Islam.
Not surprising. Conservatives, by the name, wants a status quo - a country ruled by white males where women are second class citizens and minorities probably not even citizens. The world has changed. We now know a lot more about the world. We know how species, including humans, come to be. We know that there are many other religions, some extant some not. In college, you also learn about myths from other countries, which makes your belief not as unique as you thought. The world is now more diverse. So if you feel that you want a white Christian society who doesn't question the "traditional" values, college and education is a huge threat and makes us go in a direction they don't want. But whether kicking or screaming, the world will continue to change and become more progressive.
Yep... that sounds true. You end up voting for them...or not! Lol.
Is this the link you meant to post? [pewresearch.org]
It's probably due to hearing the left-wing nonsense our college-brainwashed children have been spouting. I think that MIT is possibly still OK.
Yeah that's what I was reading
58% of conservatives are just stupid!
I think so too. And it's always a conservative that's going to spit on his fellow man because they don't make enough money to make ends meet.So how the hell are people supposed to be self-sufficient without education?
