I never travel for the Memorial Day weekend. I am however going to attend a service in my city for a good friend of mine who was killed in the Iraq War back in 2007.

I got awesome plans I like them or not. First Weekend Party of the Season. Unfortunately is first without Brother in Law that left us on Nov 18. Remodeling of the house completed (well 75% since my sister is a woman after all and that is a never completed task). Pool cleaned so the jacuzzi. I cutted the grass last week and need cut again... Some people coming down from NYC including the departed best friend... debating if I am going to drink alcohol this weekend... I will let them get drunk like usual and see how it feels. I feel such a great pleasure to say No to a drink. Weekend long party in a house of functional drunks and one sober curdmorgeon, oh, plus 3 female chihuahuas.

I've been busting hump getting people's vacation houses ready for this weekend. If I can sleep through the whole thing that'd be great. But someone is going to call.

You deserve some rest. I found me some hidden places nobody can find me... including in a tool shed, all I need is move a cushion mat and a pillow to the flat. To be done tomorrow.

@GipsyOfNewSpain and ac or a major fan here at least. ?

@CallMeDave Wise words, last time last year they found me in the Sauna.... the motherefers.

I never go hiking, camping or backing on a national holiday weekend. Too crowded.

On Friday morning, hiking partner Karen I will climb to the summit of Mission Ridge Ski Area, gaining 2,000 feet in elevation over 2.5 miles. Spectacular vistas of snow-capped mountains and wildflowers.

VIEWS: Mt. Rainier, the Enchantments, Glacier Peak, Mt. Adams, Mt. Saint Helens, Mt Baker and even Mt. Hood in Oregon. "I can see Portland from here!" I can say, calling an Oregon friend from the summit.

Climbing up steep ski runs, we don't take the road. "No more goat trails!" I told Karen. How 800-lb. mountain goats walk on a six-inch "trail" on the edge of a cliff is beyond me.

On Friday evening, my daughter, 28, and her fiance' will stop by on their way to Lake Chelan. Claire is bringing me shirts to mend. "Acts of service" is a major love language for me. I love helping people.

Don't mind relaxing- doing a little sewing- over the weekend. My legs will be shot.

I'm going to cook Hot Dogs over an open lava pit.
